eight u.s. presidents can't go wrong

Around the World in 80 Days (1956): hard to believe a movie like this being made without blue screen being used. the effects they used were amazing. well, all except for the arrows being shot at them and literally bouncing off of their bodies. in fact, the whole native american scene was terrible. they portrayed them in the worst way. the movie sometimes feels like it takes 80 days to get through, but its worth it. makes it interesting and somewhat suspenseful wondering if he is going to make it or not. at first i found it crazy how this movie could have won best pic over giant, the king and i, and the ten commandments. but you really just gotta see it to understand. and also, watch it and you'll understand tenfold more about mellon collie and the infinite sadness. guess i'm just way out of touch.

Manhattan (1979): a movie everyone needs to see. this is a call to arms people. every now and then i tell you to see certain movies and to break out of your little shell. this is one of those moments. it is a beautiful movie with wonderful and deep characters. it gives a great look at every possible aspect of a relationship. woody allen is a comedic genius in this movie. when you watch it, just try and realize how much of the scenes are all improv by the actors. you'll have such an appreciation for some of the most real acting you'll ever see on the screen. and george gershwin's score could not be more perfect. that little faggot randy newman blasted allen for having such a powerful score. you just stick with your cartoons randy. monsters inc had some great music if i remember correctly. actually i don't, so go to hell. movie is near perfect as is his portrayal of the city. buy it.

All the King's Men (1949): an okay movie at best. nothing special about it except the fact that bush must have studied this movie his whole life and got all his best traits from it. it is seriously george bush in a nutshell. except the assassination part (then again, we still got four more years. here come the secret service knocking on my door). the reality of politics is a sad thing, but you don't need this movie to tell you that. don't see it. go read the newspaper instead.

speaking of assassination, you know that niffty little fact about every president who has been elected on a year that ends in zero has either been killed in office, died in office, or an assassination has been attempted. i haven't looked this up to verify, although i know this is the case for at least the majority. well, bush was elected in 2000, but to much disappointment, no one has gotten past his army. during this last election i thought this little curse was going to be broken for the first time and he would be the first to get through without a single injury (except when he fell off that segway. i thought those things were retard-proof.). but, looks like he's got four more years for people to start plotting. so, if all goes as planned, this should make for an interesting presidency.*

at work now and super sad because we got 1 episode left for the sopranos. who knows how long we are gonna have to wait for season 5 to come out on dvd or six feet. nothing is going on. i finally got a nice schedule for each week of when i do my homework. i hope i can stick with it though. and yeah, still sad about not snowboarding on friday. this week i don't care if i get zero sleep at all, i'll go no matter what. i'm trying to plan some sort of trip for spring break. think i got it narrowed down to lake tahoe or phoenix. pretty random places, but that's what we get for living the middle of nowhere. i'm trying to hit up places that will have a hard rock cafe, and believe it not, those are the closest that i haven't been to. its still way in the works, meaning i'm sure it won't happen.

i got some tight new kicks last week. my first pair of etnies i've ever owned. not only that, but this is the first time i've owned like two pairs of new tennis shoes at once. finally i have more than one option in the morning.

*this is not an endorsement for his death or me hinting that it will happen or that i will be involved in it. sadly, i've got like 150 movies i still need to watch, so even if i wanted to take part in such an occasion, i just don't have the time.
